Mai jos publicăm mesajul Managerului Programului EIFL-OA Iryna Kucima.
Happy Open Access Week!
Calling all EIFL partner countries!
We want to hear from you and publicize your Open Access Week activities. Please send me photos from your events, news about them and other highlights and we shall share them on our website and social media channels.
Every year, libraries around the world advocate for change by taking part in International Open Access (OA) Week, a global event established by SPARC and partners in the student community in 2008, which is an opportunity to take action in making openness the default for research — to raise the visibility of scholarship, accelerate research, and turn breakthroughs into better lives.
Universities, colleges, research institutes, funding agencies, libraries, and think tanks have all used OA Week as a platform to host faculty votes on OA policies, to present on the social and economic benefits of OA, to commit new funds in support of OA publication, and more.
This year’s 9th International OA Week „Open in Action” is held from October 24th through the 30th; however, those celebrating the week are encouraged to schedule local events whenever is most suitable during the year.
International OA Week has always been about action, and this year’s theme encourages all stakeholders to take concrete steps to make their own work more openly available and encourage others to do the same. From posting pre-prints in a repository to supporting colleagues in making their work more accessible, this year’s OA Week will focus on moving from discussion to action in opening up our system for communicating research.
The „Open in Action” theme also highlights the researchers, librarians, students, and others who have made a commitment to working in the open and how that decision has benefited them – from researchers just starting their careers to those at the top of their field.
This year’s theme of “Open in Action” is all about taking concrete steps to open up research and scholarship and encouraging others to do the same.
To provide you with ideas for taking action and to measure the community’s collective efforts, we’ve created an action portal where you can indicate which steps you’ll take to support Open Access. During the week, we’ll follow up with you about the actions you’ve selected and count your commitment along with those from the rest of the community to demonstrate the momentum for Open Access.
You can also help by spreading the word about the actions you can take to open up your work and to encourage others to do the same. Consider retweeting our message here or posting your own message about Open Access Week on social media with the hashtag #OAWeek. You can find more background on each of the actions listed on the portal through the Open Access Week website here.
Thank you for all of your efforts to support Open Access-during Open Access Week and year round. We look forward to being able to highlight your work and the collective impact of Open Access advocates from across the globe!
